Acting Consul-General Yuncai Mei meets with the SA Police Assistant Commissioner

On May 30th, Yuncai Mei, the acting Chinese Consul-General in Adelaide met with Scott Duval, the SA Police Assistant Commissioner and Rob Papworth, Operations Inspector of Commercial and Electronic Crime branch.

Mr. Mei said recently various kinds of telecom fraud cases are becoming more frequent. The Chinese Consulate-General has received several reports of fraud cases and a large number of inquiry and verification calls from Chinese students. Mr. Mei hopes SA Police will take further steps on fraud prevention and the efforts to crack down on telecommunication fraud and share with Chinese Consulate the information of cases Chinese citizens involving. Mr. Mei also provided the suspected telephone numbers recently collected to the SA police.
 
Scott said that SA Police is ready to further cooperate with the Consulate-General, improve publicity to enhance the public's, including Chinese students' awareness of and the ability to deal with telecommunication fraud.
 
Ling Dong, officer of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, and Chinese Vice-Consul Nanchuan Liu also attended the meeting.
