On February 10th, Consul-General HE Lanjing attended upon invitation the Chinese New Year celebrations that featured a Chinese contemporary art exhibition and the 2019 Chinese New Year Concert held by the Adelaide Festival Centre.

The art exhibition showcased some exquisite paintings by Australian Chinese artist Mr. CHEN Ping and Ms. ZU Tianli. Ms. Jing Lee, Assistant Minister to the Premier of South Australia, Mr. Douglas Gautier, Artistic Director of the Adelaide Festival Centre and more than 100 spectators attended the opening ceremony.

Consul-General HE said in her speech that the exhibition held during the Chinese New Year bore a special meaning. It was believed that the exhibition and the following Chinese New Year Concert would bring a wonderful audio-visual feast to the audience, helping more local people to learn about and enjoy Chinese culture.

From 5.00pm, the Adelaide Festival Centre and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra jointly presented the second Chinese New Year Concert. Artists from China and Australia played well-arranged famous songs, including The Spring Festival Overture, Red Flowers Blooming All Over the Mountain, the Butterfly Lovers, Jasmine and other classical pieces of China. Beautiful melodies and excellent skills struck a strong chord with thousands of audiences and the applause lasted for a long time.
