On 8th September, 26 local Chinese organisations including Overseas Chinese Association of SA jointly held the South Australian Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration in Adelaide. About 2,000 local Chinese participated. Ms. HE Lanjing, Consul-General of China in Adelaide, Mr. Hieu Van Le, Governor of South Australia, Ms. Jing Lee, Assistant Minister to the Premier of South Australia, Mr. Norman Schueler, Chair of the SA Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs Commission, Mr. Binh Quang Nguyen, Chairperson of the SA Ethnic Schools Association, and Ms. Angela Evans, Mayor of City of Charles Sturt attended the celebration.

Consul-General HE extended her festive greetings to the overseas Chinese and Chinese students in South Australia. She said the Chinese community, as an important part of Australian multicultural society, has carried forward the fine traditions of the Chinese nation over the years, and made positive contributions to the economic prosperity, cultural diversity and social progress of South Australia. At the same time, local Chinese have given full play to their advantage as the bond and bridge to actively promote the trade and economic cooperation, as well as people-to-people contact between the two sides.

Consul-General HE hoped the overseas Chinese would always care for the development of their hometowns and mother country, often go back to have a look, make more people in China know about South Australia and help locals have a better understanding of China.

Governor Hieu Van Le and Assistant Minister Jing Lee spoke positively of the important role of the Chinese culture in South Australia's diverse community and congratulated local Chinese on a happy Mid-Autumn festival.
