On 19 October, Elder Park by the Torrens River came alive with the annual Moon Lantern Parade - a feature event of OzAsia Festival. Premier of South Australia Steven Marshall, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Sydney Raymond FAN, Adelaide Festival Centre CEO & Artistic Director Douglas Gautier were present at the event. Chinese Consul-General HE Lanjing also attended by invitation.

The parade attracted nearly 40,000 people on the day. Since the afternoon, people converged on the park to enjoy the warm-up program of live performance, art workshops and craft activities. Hundreds of hand-held lamps and over 40 giant lanterns from 50 more diverse communities illuminated the entire park. And the stunning 40 metre Hong Kong Dragon was indeed one of the highlights of the night.

The Moon Lantern Parade celebrates Chinese traditional culture. As an essential part of OzAsia Festival, it is also actively participated by local Asian community. The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Sydney has sponsored the event since 2009.

OzAsia Festival is Australia's premier international arts festival focusing on Asia. The 2019 Festival brings artists from over 20 countries and will run to 3 November.
