On February 4, the Consular Corps of South Australia (CCSA) held the year celebration with the presence of South Australian Governor Hieu Van Le, Premier Steven Marshall, Assistant Minister to the Premier Jing Lee, Speaker of the House of Assembly Vincent Tarzia, State Office directors of the Department of Home Affairs and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, consular corps members, totaling over 60 people attended the event.

The Dean of the CCSA, Chinese Consul-General in Adelaide HE Lanjing reviewed the highlights of the consular corps in 2019 with her sincere appreciation to the relevant departments of federal and South Australian governments for attaching importance to the CCSA and their valuable support all the time. She said the CCSA would work in strong coordination and stay in close contact with relevant parties to promote the friendly cooperation between South Australia and the respective countries.

Consul-General HE also briefed on China's combat against the pneumonia outbreak caused by the novel coronavirus. She said at the moment, China is going all out to fight against the epidemic and a series of decisive and effective measures have been taken to rein in its spread. At the same time, the Chinese government has timely released information about the epidemic and been cooperating with the international community in an open, transparent and responsible manner. With China's unrelenting efforts, the prevention and control measures are gradually showing their effectiveness. The virus's mortality rate in China has been reported at 2.1% as the number of recovered cases is still rising. So we have every confidence and every capability to win this battle.

The guests were deeply impressed by the active efforts of China in containing the virus, spoke highly of the extraordinary mobilisation ability of the Chinese system, and were fully confident that China would defeat the epidemic in the end.
