On June 22, 2026, it was learned from the Xinjiang Wine Association that the results of the 2026 Decanter World Wine Awards had recently been announced. Owing to the outstanding quality, wines from Xinjiang won 49 medals, showcasing to the world the distinctive appeal of Xinjiang wine.
This year’s competition brought together 16,631 wines from 58 countries and regions worldwide. A total of 214 Chinese wines received medals, of which 49 were awarded to wines from the Xinjiang wine region, accounting for 22.8 percent of China’s total medal count and ranking second nationwide. These included three gold medals, 21 silver medals, and 25 bronze medals. The three gold-medal-winning wines were: Loulan Winery’s 2019 Loulan Castle Shigui Cabernet Sauvignon Dry Red Wine; CITIC Niya Wine Co., Ltd.’s 2024 Niya Legend Cabernet Sauvignon Blend Dry Red Wine C5; and Xinjiang Tangting Xialu Winery Co., Ltd.’s 2024 Tangting Xialu Marselan Dry Red Wine.

The wineries from Xinjiang participating in this competition cover the four major wine-producing areas: the Ili River Valley, the Yanqi Basin, the Turpan–Hami Basin, and the northern foothills of the Tianshan Mountains. Drawing on their distinctive local terroir and focusing on the cultivation and vinification of characteristic grape varieties, wineries across these regions achieved outstanding results. This demonstrates that the scaled and quality-oriented development of Xinjiang’s wine industry has gained recognition in the global professional market.
The Decanter World Wine Awards, launched in 2004 by the British magazine Decanter, is an international wine competition and is currently one of the largest and most widely recognized wine competitions in the world.
