American cyclist Alex K. returns to northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region two years after his first unforgettable trip, resuming his cross-China cycling journey that will take him into Central Asia this summer.
Back in April 2024, during his first cycling tour in Xinjiang, Alex was caught in a sudden snowstorm in Barkol County. Exhausted and stranded in a small town, he was warmly taken in by local herdsmen. They offered him accommodation, treated him with great hospitality and shared their local culture and daily life with him. The heartwarming experience left him with precious memories and a deep affection for Xinjiang.

During his recent two-day stay in Urumqi, Alex enjoyed exploring the city, tasting diverse local foods and experiencing local customs. This time, he will continue his westward journey and cross into Kazakhstan via Horgos Port.
