Rao Hongwei Paid Courtesy Call on SA Premier

On November 3rd 2015, Consul-General Rao Hongwei paid a courtesy call on the Honorable Jay Weatherill, Premier of South Australia at the latter’s office.

 

Consul-General Rao said that the establishment of the Chinese Consulate-General in Adelaide is one of the important outcomes of Chinese President Xi’s state visit to Australia in 2014. It indicates that China-Australia relations have entered a new historical era and therefore offer new opportunities for and injects new vitality into the development of bilateral relations, exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. Mr. Rao said that he felt deeply honored to serve as the first Chinese Consul-General in Adelaide. The Consulate-General is ready to work together with the Government of South Australia to build a bridge between the two sides, further promote the existing friendly relations and further enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

Premier Jay Weatherill welcomed the establishment of the Chinese Consulate-General in Adelaide. He said both sides have extensive bilateral cooperation in culture, education, economy and other fields. The establishment of the Consulate-General will bring convenience and benefits to the two peoples. The Government of South Australia will spare no efforts in providing convenience and assistance to the Consulate-General and looks forward to strengthening its cooperation with China in all fields.

The two sides also exchanged views on the developments in the preparatory work of the establishment of the Consulate-General and future cooperations.
