On September 28th, 2015, Consul-General Rao Hongwei attended the Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration held by Chinese Communities of South Australia and delivered a speech.

Mr. Rao said he was pleased to attend the Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration jointly hosted by the Chinese Communities of South Australia at the invitation of the Overseas Chinese Association of South Australia. This year marks the 43rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Australia. China has become Australia’s largest trading partner, export market, source of imports, destination of service exports and source of tourism revenue. Chinese and Australian economies are highly complementary, and personnel exchanges continue to deepen. With the continuous development and deepening of China-Australia relations, the number of overseas Chinese in South Australia is growing, currently nearing 60,000. Over the years, overseas Chinese and Chinese communities of South Australia including the Overseas Chinese Association of South Australia have been playing a positive role in the development of China-Australia relations, promotion of Chinese culture and prosperity of the motherland. Their efforts and contribution are highly appreciated. The Chinese Consulate-General in Adelaide is ready to work with overseas Chinese communities to seize the opportunity to forge ahead, further promote exchanges and cooperation between China and South Australia and bring benefits to both peoples.

At present, the Consulate-General is yet to be officially opened, but we are actively engaged in the preparatory work.  I am sure that the Chinese national flag will be flying in South Australia soon.
