Consul-General Cai Siping meets with the Premier of South Australia

On September 4, Consul-General Cai Siping called on the Premier of South Australia Jay Weatherill at Adelaide Town Hall.

 


Mr Cai said he is honoured to take his post in the beautiful South Australia. Over the past month, he has met a number of local dignitaries and people from business, education, Chinese community and other areas, deeply felt their friendliness, the warm expectations and good visions of deepening friendship with China, which increases his confidence to commence  work and fulfil the duties. The differences on social systems and cultural traditions between China and Australia do not obstruct the broad common interests of the two countries. Various cooperations could be carried out. He believes that the development of China-Australia relations will surely show a broader prospect in the future.

 

Mr Weatherill welcomed Mr Cai to South Australia as the Consul-General. He said that China is an important country for South Australia to develop foreign relations. The cooperation between the two sides is flourishing and fruitful, which has effectively promoted the employment and economic development of South Australia. The two sides has witnessed a closer friendship between South Australian and Chinese people. The sister-state relationship between South Australia and Shandong Province has lasted 31 years, with frequent official contacts and sound cooperation in all areas. The relationship has reached a new stage of transformation and quality raising.


Mr Cai appreciated Mr Weatherill for his attaching great importance to the development of relations with China especially the exchanges and cooperation with Shandong Province since he assumed the Premier of South Australia. Mr Cai expressed his gratitude oto Mr Weatherill and people from all areas in South Australia for their strong support to the Consulate-General.


Mr Weatherill said that the state government is willing to work closely with the Chinese Consulate-General to jointly promote the relationship between South Australia and China to a higher level.
